Section 6
Protection and Promotion of Consumer Rights

(1) For the purpose of protecting the rights and interests of consumers, every consumer shall have the following rights –
(a) The right to be protected from the sale and distribution of consumer goods and services that cause harm to life, life, health and property,
(b) The right to be informed about the price, quality, quantity, purity, quality, etc. of consumer goods and services in order to be protected from unfair commercial activities,
(c) The right to be confident in the opportunity to choose consumer goods and services at as competitive a price as possible (d) The right to be sure that the hearing is done by the appropriate authority regarding the protection of the rights and interests of the consumer,
(e) the right to a hearing and compensation against exploitation and abuse of consumers by unfair commercial practices, and
(f) Right to consumer education.
(2) The Government of Nepal shall give necessary instructions to the council in order to create an environment that promotes and protects the rights of consumers mentioned in sub-section (1).
